"I recommend it to readers seeking a modern vampire tale not defined by its protagonist’s sexiness." Dave Higgins - Author

Nate’s A Vampire Hunter, Lexie's a White Witch.

They met when Nate was hunting and found out Lexie was infected by the vampire curse. When the hunt went wrong and Lexie used blood magic to save Nate from certain death, she passed on the infection to him. For a time Lexie's magic has been able to keep them both partially human as they continue to protect ignorant humanity from the vampire threat, but that magic is now starting to fail.

There are legends that the ancient Avebury ritual, designed to destroy Morrigan of Leyland, the most powerful vampire ever known, may hold the key to the cure they need, but to perform it Nate and Lexie require the four relics from the original ritual. Enlisting the help of veteran hunter, Brian Hawker, who has his own reasons for finding the relics, they must search across continents before it is too late.

In their way are vampire nuns, a crystal cave, shape changers, a labyrinthine catacomb, mummified monks and even librarians. However, their greatest foe is Dahlia, undead sister of Morrigan, who will stop at nothing to retrieve the relics for herself and claim Morrigan's power.

If Dahlia reaches any of the relics before them, Nate and Lexie face a fate worse than death—losing their humanity forever.

Blood Sacrifice The Avebury Legacy Vampires The New Age Book 1 eBook Natasha DuncanDrake

I really, REALLY enjoyed this book. It has so many great elements: romance, suspense, action and all within a paranormal context. Despite their supernatural abilities, Nate and Lexie read like a very real, very complex couple, with a very 21st Century relationship. I love the fact that Lexie is NOT a damsel in distress, and that Nate knows it, too. The way he struggles with his very natural desire to protect her, but balances that with the realization that she's very able to take care of herself. And the ensemble of other characters is rich, my favorite being Hawker, who maintains his sarcastic, brusque, ornery manner in the face of everything. His chemistry with Nate brings a really nice touch of dark humor to the book. Their dialogue is akin to verbal sparring and filled with wit. The book is well paced, with a suspenseful build in the beginning that leads to multiple, action-packed, page turning sequences up until the very last page. The Avebury Legacy puts an original and contemporary twist on the vampire novel genre. I highly recommend it!

Blood Sacrifice The Avebury Legacy Vampires The New Age Book 1 eBook Natasha DuncanDrake Reviews

Received a complimentary copy to read and review. Natasha is an amazing writer. I couldn't put it down. The characters and the world she has created are great. My favorite characters are Nate and Lexie. Loved the plot. It has some great twists and turns. I was surprised at the ending never expected it to end that way. Readers are drawn in from the beginning. Anyone who loves vampire novels will love this one. Add it to your TBR list you won't be disappointed. I look forward to reading more of Natasha's books.
Looking for a quick read that will leave you wanting more? Natasha Duncan-Drake’s THE AVEBURY LEGACY fits the bill, with a skillful balance of action, plot twists, and characterization.

Hidden relics and an ancient ritual could keep Nate and Lexie from turning into vampires, but the former vampire hunter and white witch keep running into obstacles as they slip further from their humanity. Caught between vampire hunters and vampires who want them dead, the partially turned vampires’ task just keeps getting harder.

Duncan-Drake lets readers experience Nate and Lexie’s plight through their eyes, with lots of action to keep the pace fast, and plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing. I look forward to reading the prequel (THE BEGINNING) about how Nate and Lexie met, and to the forthcoming sequel.
As someone who is in love with paranormal books especially those that deal in vampires and witches this was a brilliant read. It has so many great elements romance, suspense, and action. I also like that the female lead Lexie is no damsel in distress but rather a strong woman capable of taking care of herself. Which makes Nate our lead male fun because he struggles with his desire to protect her. It also make their relationship complex and interesting.

This story also has other characters in it that bring depth to the story and fills it out. Overall the book is well paced, with a suspenseful build in the beginning that leads to multiple, action-packed, page turning sequences up until the very last page. The Avebury Legacy puts an original and contemporary twist on the vampire novel genre. I highly recommend it for a great summer read at the beach or pool side.

**Disclosure I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.**
Nate Laverne is part vampire, and he is definitely not happy about this fact. After surviving a vampire attack, Nate is slowly turning into one of the creatures he has spent so long hunting. The magic used by his co-hunter Lexie is slowly losing ground against the tide of vampirism struggling to take over both of their bodies. The only thing that can save them is an ancient ritual and a group of hidden relics, thought to be in the safe-keeping of a priest who is now thought to be dead.

Duncan-Drake does a wonderful job with the characters in this book. They never descend into trite cliches or easy tropes. And in a genre over-flowing with bland, uninspiring stories, hers is a book with definite bite! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes their vampires to be scary instead of sweet.

Another very quick read, Natasha delivers a vampire-packed action story with likeable, but not too likeable characters.

An interesting take on vampirism, with an almost purgatory-like time in between being infected and turning, Natasha does a great job of linking magic, paranormal and religious beliefs into one complex plot.

Crossing paranormal with a more traditional adventure/epic fantasy quest plot also gave this number a brilliant twist. It mixed ancient mysticism with current technology, M/F and a hint of M/M relationships (but far less M/M than is normal for Natasha's stories) and even managed to mix in a bit of romance.

Give this melting pot of goodness a try!

Things I noticed

10% - '...put the shotgun barrel in it and let of (off) both rounds.'

64% - 'it (if) you hadn't been moving...'

65% - '...a floor your (you) don't mind me drawing on.'
There is enough of traditional vampire lore that nothing needs to be to heavily explained, with plenty of fresh ideas to set it apart from other tales of the undead. This is a perfect 'beach read' for those of us who enjoy a little more action with our romance - I downloaded it to my phone and found it a delightful accompaniment to my morning coffee. If you put it down, you'll be able to pick it back up again without missing a beat. But my guess is that you won't put it down, each chapter has as much action as the one before it and we're rooting for our unconventional heroes all along. Vampire fans looking for a strong female, fresh ideas and unique horror (vampire nuns, I adore you), should see what this has in store.
